About Us

Nourish the Flathead (NTF) is a locally based nonprofit founded by farmers, community organizers, business leaders & food system planners from around the Flathead Valley of northwest Montana.

Our mission is to reconnect people to the sources of their food and to those who produce it through education, outreach, and market support.

Our work is focused on 3 primary program areas:

Food For All        Farm to Fork        Youth Empowerment

We are interested ecologically-sound, socially just, and economically viable ways of growing food and making it accessible to everyone.  We are constantly seeking opportunities to achieve our vision and help our community, whether it be starting community gardens, offering classes at Flathead Valley Community College, hosting events and presentations,  collaborating with other organizations and agencies, writing grants, or working with at-risk youth.  Our board members are all active in the local food system, and we hope that Nourish can bring together our collective knowledge to serve as an information and resource base for our local communities.

Our vision for a Montana food system is to increase the number of people growing food and to increase the market and support for local food by empowering individuals and institutions to actively participate in their food choices.

We believe in food that truly nourishes – our communities, our families, and our valley.
